Our Staff

All of our speech/language pathologists are licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Barbara Northrup, M.A., CCC-SLP

Barb is the owner of the practice with over 35 years of experience in evaluating and treating communication disorders. She specializes in ASD communication disorders and social communication disorders; organizational challenges secondary to ADHD; auditory and language processing; expressive and receptive language disorders/learning disabilities; and articulation, phonological disorders and childhood apraxia. Barb is trained in Oral Myofunctional Evaluation & Treatment. She is a member of the Ohio Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the Central Ohio Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.

Lynn Vottero, M.A., CCC-SLP

For over 30 years, Lynn has been evaluating and treating children and adolescents with disorders in the areas of articulation, expressive/receptive language, auditory/language processing, tongue thrust, phonology, voice, fluency and pragmatic/social skills. She is the co-creator of the "social toolbox" concept which is unique to Northrup and Associates and is the Director of School Services for the practice. Lynn is a long time member of the Ohio Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Audra Comes, M.A., CCC-SLP

Audra has been a clinician with Northrup and Associates since 2012. Prior to her work as a speech-language pathologist, she served in the City Year AmeriCorps program, taught high school English, and served as a specific learning disabilities tutor.

Audra works primarily with school-aged clients within the school and clinic settings, providing screenings, evaluations, and therapy services for speech and language skills such as expressive and receptive language, language processing, social language, executive functioning, articulation, and fluency. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.  

Rebekah Manzo, M.A., CCC-SLP

Rebekah joined the team in December 2014. As a recent Master of Arts Speech-Language Pathology graduate from The Ohio State University, she offers a well-rounded background resulting from experience in several different pediatric settings. This experience includes, but is not limited to, working at Helping Hands, a school for autism, where she provided intervention to children using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), working with a craniofacial specialist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, to a full year literacy-based placement at Rose Hill Elementary in Reynoldsburg. Additionally, Rebekah's experience working as a graduate clinician in the university’s speech-language-hearing clinic solidified skills to assess and treat a wide range of pediatric language and speech disorders. She also has experience with adult accent modification and pediatric voice therapy. 

Maggie Schafer, M.A., CCC-SLP

Maggie Schafer is a member of the Ohio Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Maggie joined the team in 2015 and has experience working with school-age children in a variety of settings. In her previous position, Maggie specialized in the evaluation and treatment of students with receptive-expressive language disorders, articulation disorders, fluency disorders, and social language disorders. She has worked in both private and public settings designing curriculum and providing treatment to English learner students in the Early Exceptional Learning Preschool Program. Currently, her main roles include providing services to children with a variety of communication disorders, and collaborating with parents and educators on the identification and prevention of communication disorders.

Crystal Sirl, M.A., CCC-SLP

Crystal graduated from the University of Akron in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. Since graduate school, she worked for the Center for Hearing and Speech (CHS) in Houston, Texas where she treated children birth through 17 years with a diagnosed hearing loss as an Auditory-Verbal Therapy Intern, providing family-centered therapy. Additionally, her caseload included children with concomitant disorders: autism, down syndrome, speech and language disorders, auditory processing disorder, sensory processing disorders, and cognitive delays. She worked on a team, collaborating with a variety of professionals, including teachers, audiologists, social workers, neuropsychologists, surgeons, occupational therapists, and interpreters. Crystal's caseload included families with many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, with extensive experience working with Hispanic families. She brought these skills and knowledge to our practice when she joined in 2016 and applies this breadth of experience in the school and office settings.

Susie Bateman, B.S., Elementary Education, LD Certified K-12

Susie joined the Northrup & Associates staff in 2014 bringing with her more than 25 years of experience ranging from individual tutoring to classroom intervention. She completed the required hours of practicum through the Children's Dyslexia Center to receive Orton-Gillingham certification in 2007 and advanced level OG certification in 2012. She has both ALTA and IMSLEC accreditation. Susie combines her vast knowledge base with creativity and enthusiasm to be prescriptive and diagnostic while tailoring the OG scope/sequence specifically for the 

child's needs. 

Christy Davis, Office Manager

Christy started with the practice in 2009. She is based in the Reynoldsburg office, but administratively manages all three locations. Christy is responsible for the smooth operation of the day-to-day business of Northrup & Associates. She handles scheduling, billing and new client inquiries. Christy's specialty is making it possible for other people to function efficiently.
